Wayzata is a boutique lakefront community in Hennepin County, Minn. It is located about 16 miles west of Minneapolis on the shores of famous Lake Minnetonka. Wayzata is renowned for its charming downtown area around the lake and its small-town feel.
 
The community features an array of commercial establishments in the vibrant business district with a welcome mix of historic waterfront and exclusive shops. Modern residential developments fill the charming neighborhoods of Wayzata with a blend of condominiums, villas, and single-family luxury homes. 
 
Highway 12, the primary route into the Twin Cities from the west metropolitan area, runs the length of the city before turning onto Interstate 394. This provides easy access to the delightful town of Wayzata for visitors and the Twin Cities for residents.

Lake Minnetonka is the heart of Wayzata. Locals, employees, and visitors experience their daily lives with magnificent views of the lake and all it offers. Wayzata is close to the bustling city, offering the residents access to the best of both worlds. It is only a 15-minute drive to the west of Minneapolis.

You can find almost anything you want in Wayzata, including the latest lakeside clothes, artwork, and antiques. You can pass Evereve or Anthropologie for elegant women’s clothing and go to the Wayzata Village Shops for more diverse purchases. 
 
Many informal and elegant restaurants are available in Wayzata for locals and visitors to satisfy their taste buds. Visit Macanda and sit in their year-round heated patio while enjoying traditional Mexican favorites with a martini, cilantro highball, or banana whey sour. Nearby, you can find Sakana Sushi, which specializes in Thai and Chinese cuisine, including soup, noodles, seafood, salads, wraps, and desserts. Josefina, another excellent restaurant adjacent to Wayzata Bay, is the city’s newest fine dining establishment. This Italian eatery specializes in pasta, pizza, and seafood. 
 
For a fantastic upscale American dining experience, you can stop by COV, 6Smith, or Gianni’s Steakhouse restaurants. McCormick’s Pub and restaurant is an excellent place to start if you want to go international. Alternatively, you can grab delicious sushi at Sushi Fix.
 

Things to Do 

 
There are plenty of activities for everyone in Wayzata all year round. While relaxing on Lake Minnetonka’s shores, you can watch passing cruisers or admire the gorgeous groups of sailboats. You can also enjoy swimming, fishing, skiing, and other water sports at the lake.
Golfers can practice their swings at the Wayzata Country Club and Woodhill Country Club during the warmer months. The two country clubs have many amenities, including pools children can enjoy.
 
In the winter, locals and visitors participate in ice skating, ice racing, and ice fishing huts. Wayzata also hosts the biggest, most prestigious, and unique golf competition on a frozen lake, the Wayzata Chilly Open Golf Tournament.
 
One festival you don’t want to miss is the James J. Hill Days, which occurs annually on the weekend following Labor Day. The festival is full of fun activities and events for everyone to enjoy.
 

Schools

 
The Wayzata School District serves the residents of Wayzata and other neighboring areas. The school district has nine elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school, most of which are in Plymouth. The only one within Wayzata is West Middle School, grades 6 to 8 (the 10th-best middle school in Minnesota). The Wayzata School District is nationally recognized and highly sought after for academics, activities, and sports.
