A Father's Day Special
Real estate success is built on trust, relationships, and community. A reflection on what recognition truly represents and the people who make it possible.
A few years ago, someone asked me a simple question:
"Why did you choose real estate?"
My answer then is the same answer I would give today.
I wanted to help people find their place in the world.
At first glance, real estate looks like it's about homes. Square footage. Kitchens. Neighborhoods. Closing dates.
But anyone who has spent time helping buyers and sellers knows it's about much more than that.
It's about the young couple buying their first home and imagining their future. It's about the family searching for more space as life changes. It's about the empty nesters preparing for a new chapter. It's about helping people navigate moments that often feel bigger than the transaction itself.
The homes matter. The people matter more.
Recently, I was honored to be recognized on this year's RealTrends Verified list as a Top 100 agent in Minnesota and among the top 1.5% of agents nationally.
While I am incredibly grateful for the recognition, awards have never been the reason I do this work.
In many ways, rankings are simply a reflection of something much larger.
They represent every client who placed their trust in us during one of the most important financial and personal decisions of their lives.
They represent every conversation, showing, inspection, negotiation, late-night phone call, and problem solved behind the scenes.
They represent relationships built over years, not transactions completed in a matter of weeks.
When I look at this recognition, I don't see a number next to my name. I see the people who made it possible.
One of the things I have learned throughout my career is that success in this business is never achieved alone.
Every buyer who trusted us to help them find the right home. Every seller who entrusted us with a property that held years of memories. Every past client who referred a friend, family member, or colleague.
Every relationship has played a role in shaping our business.
Trust is not something that can be purchased or manufactured. It is earned through communication, consistency, and doing what is right even when no one is watching.
Over time, those individual relationships become the foundation upon which a business is built.
I am also fortunate to be surrounded by incredible people who elevate the experience we provide our clients every day.
The professionals within Compass and Realm Global continually raise the standard of what excellence looks like.
Our referral partners across the country and around the world place immense trust in us when they send us the people they care about most.
These relationships remind me that while real estate is local, collaboration is global.
When great people work together with a shared commitment to serving clients well, everyone benefits.
Most importantly, our families provide the support that makes all of this possible.
Behind every successful business is a network of people who sacrifice, encourage, and create the space needed to pursue meaningful work. Their contributions are often unseen, but they are never unnoticed.
In a world that often measures success by rankings, sales volume, and awards, I believe the most meaningful measure is much simpler.
The answer to those questions will always matter more than any recognition.
Awards are appreciated. Relationships are what endure.
To every client, referral partner, colleague, friend, and family member who has been part of this journey, thank you.
Your trust, support, and encouragement have shaped our business in ways that no award ever could.
This recognition may have my name attached to it, but it belongs to all of us.
And as grateful as I am for what has been accomplished, I am even more excited about the people we have yet to serve and the stories we have yet to be part of.
Because at the end of the day, the reason I chose real estate hasn't changed.
It's still about helping people find their place in the world.
